H. E. Ambassador DAVID DONDUA
Ambassador Extraordinary and
Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Austria and Permanent
Representative to the OSCE and other International Organisations in Vienna.
Prior to his current assignment
David Dondua served as a Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs (2014-2018) and First
Deputy State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration (2012-2014).
In 2008-2012 he was Chief of
Cabinet of the Chairman of Parliament.
David Dondua is a career
foreign service officer. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1993 and
served as a Political Director (2006-2008), Ambassador to NATO (2001-2006), DCM
at the Embassy to the United States (1998-2000), Director of Department for Politico-Military
Affairs (1996-1998), Deputy Head and then Head of NATO Division (1994-1996) and
First Secretary in the Department for International Organizations (1993-1994).
Before joining Foreign Service,
in 1981-1988 David Dondua worked as an assistant professor at the Institute of
Geography of the Academy of Sciences of Georgia. In 1988-1992 he was deputy
director of Tbilisi #6 Gymnasium. He was an author of textbooks on geography
and natural history for primary and secondary schools of Georgia.
David Dondua is also founding member of Georgian Oral History Association and a member
of the scientific council of Geographic Society of Georgia.
Besides native Georgian, he
speaks English and Russian and has conversational French.
David Dondua was born in 1959.
He is married with one daughter.
