GEORGIAN DELEGATION IS PARTICIPATING IN THE 67TH REGULAR SESSION OF GENERAL CONFERENCE OF THE INTERNATIONAL ATOMIC ENERGY AGENCY (IAEA) IN VIENNA
High-level delegations of the IAEA member states, international and non-governmental organizations
take part in the general conference.
The head of the Georgian delegation, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lasha Darsalia,
addressed the participants of the general conference, and in his speech, he paid special attention to the
importance of the Agency’s role in terms of preventing the further spread of nuclear weapons and
maintaining international security.
Lasha Darsalia reviewed recent steps taken by Georgia towards ensuring nuclear and radiation safety
and emphasized the importance of active international cooperation in this regard. The Deputy Minister
spoke about potential threats from the occupied territories of Georgia and put a special emphasis on the
importance of international verification and monitoring on the ground; Also, he noted the dangers
related to Ukraine's nuclear reactors against the backdrop of Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
At the end of the address, the head of the Georgian delegation thanked the partner states and
organizations for the implementation of the projects that contribute to the strengthening of the
regulatory body of Georgia and the improvement of the national system for nuclear and radiation
safety.
