TEIMURAZ JANJALIA HAS MET WITH AUSTRIAN PARLIAMENTARY DELEGATION
On 19 July 2024, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Teimuraz Janjalia met with the delegation from the Foreign Policy Committee of the National Council (Parliament) of the Republic of Austria, led by Committee Chairman Christoph Matznetter.
During the meeting, both parties expressed satisfaction with the close friendship and active cooperation between their countries. Teimuraz Janjalia thanked Austria for its support of Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for the significant contributions made by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) in fostering development across various sectors.
The primary focus of the discussion was Georgia's accession to the European Union. The deputy minister highlighted the country's unwavering commitment to its European path and updated the Austrian MPs on the progress made under the association agreement and the European Commission's recommendations. He emphasized the importance of continued support from partner countries, including Austria, to successfully advance to the next stage of the accession process.
Janjalia also discussed the security situation and challenges in the region, including the circumstances in the occupied territories, with the Austrian delegation. He highlighted Georgia's constructive role in promoting peace and security.
Notably, this meeting marked the first visit of the Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Austrian Parliament in the history of bilateral parliamentary relations.
